How to Transport Your Scooter
If you’re the proud owner of a scooter, you’re likely aware that riding it every single time you need it to go from point A to point B is not possible. For example, maybe your scooter was damaged in an accident and needs to go to a service department, or you got a flat tire and just cannot ride it to the dealership to get a new one put on. Or maybe you’re moving and you have to drive a car, but you still need to get your scooter to the new destination!
Regardless of the reason, this guide will help you find a good way to transport your scooter wherever it needs to be.
1. Motorcycle Trailer
Special motorcycle trailers are a great option for transporting scooters as well. They are designed to be low to the ground so that you can easily load and unload your scooter, even if it’s damaged.
2. Truck
If you own a truck, your truck bed may be a good place to load up your scooter. However, you’ll need to do a little more prep work for this mode of transport. First, you should determine whether your truck bed can handle the weight of your scooter, which you can figure out by looking up the gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of your truck and the corresponding full weight of your scooter.
Second, you should have some ropes, ratchet straps, and even some large moving blankets to protect your scooter in transit.
Third, you’ll likely want to invest in a ramp if you don’t already have one. A ramp will make it much easier to load and unload your scooter from your truck bed. Just make sure you choose a ramp that isn’t too steep for your scooter’s ground clearance.
